It gives you a solid, cheap corner without any groove geometry. A 30 x 30 x 4 mm angle bolted across a corner reinforces it and finishes the edge at the same time. For a display frame or a light guard, that is often all you need, and it is less expensive than a T-slot section of the same size.
Not much. At 4 mm wall and 30 mm legs, the section modulus is about 1.6 cm3, so it is a light duty corner. It suits display frames, light panels and trim, not a loaded machine frame. As a brace, keep the length under about 0.7 m.
6061-T6 is standard for this section. It is stronger than 6063-T5 and still anodises well. If you need to weld it, ask for 6063-T5 instead.
| Item | Value | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Leg length | 30 mm both legs | equal leg angle |
| Wall | 4 mm | light duty |
| Section modulus | approx. 1.6 cm3 | per principal axis |

| Weight | approx. 0.60 kg/m | from published section |
| Standard | EN 755-9 / GB/T 6892 | wall tolerance +/-0.15 mm |
| Cut | saw cut, ends square or mitred | to +/-0.5 mm |
The 30 x 30 x 4 mm angle is the workhorse of display and exhibition frames. It is stiff enough to hold a panel, light enough to move, and its smooth corner reads as finished without a cover cap.
In every case the load is light and static. If the frame has to carry a person’s weight or a machine’s operating load, move up to the 50 x 50 x 9 mm or larger.
The one place a light angle goes wrong is the cut angle. A display frame with mitred corners only looks right if the cuts are within half a degree, otherwise the corners show a visible gap or a step.
| Joint | Cut | Required accuracy | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Square butt joint | 90 degree square | +/-0.5 mm length | panels sit flush |
| Mitred corner | 45 degree mitre | +/-0.5 degrees | no visible corner gap |
| Brace ends | 45 degree both ends | +/-0.5 degrees | brace seats on both faces |
We cut on a CNC saw, so the 45 degree mitre is held to +/-0.5 degrees. If the frame is anodised after cutting, the anodising fills the cut face and the corner reads as a single line.
| Use | Max load | Max span | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display panel corner | up to 5 kg per corner | frame under 1.2 m | static load only |
| Light guard frame | up to 10 kg total | frame under 1.5 m | add a mid rail |
| Shelf support | up to 15 kg per shelf | shelf under 0.6 m | use two angles |
| Brace (compression) | up to 1.5 kN | under 0.7 m | shorten if buckling |
These are indicative. The angle is forgiving for static display loads but reaches its limit quickly once a load is repeated or reversed. For anything dynamic, use a thicker wall or a T-slot section.
| What goes wrong | Why it happens | Design it out by |
|---|---|---|
| Corner opens under a heavy panel | the 4 mm wall is too light for the load | use two angles per corner, or step up to the 50 x 50 x 9 mm |
| Bolt tears out at the hole edge | edge distance is under 2x the hole diameter | keep M5 holes at least 10 mm from the edge |
| Mitre gap at the corner | the cut angle is off by more than half a degree | cut on a CNC saw, and specify the mitre on the drawing |
| Brace buckles | the brace is over 0.7 m long under compression | shorten the brace or use a thicker wall |
| Anodising colour mismatch | the angle and frame are from different runs | specify a single anodising run |
Display and exhibition frames, light guards, shelf supports and trim. It is a light duty solid corner section with no slot.
Light, static loads: up to about 5 kg per corner on a display frame, or up to 15 kg per shelf when used in pairs.
M5 and M6. The 4 mm wall is too thin for M8. Keep the hole at least 10 mm from the edge.
Yes. Mill or anodised. Anodising after cutting fills the cut face and the corner reads as one line.
Approximately 0.60 kg/m for the 30 x 30 x 4 mm section.
One to two weeks for cutting and drilling, plus a week for anodising.
