Questions buyers ask
Ordering from this catalogue
If your question is not covered here, the enquiry form reaches the same engineering team that would produce your parts.
Where can I see everything Grownparts supplies in one place?+
This page is that place. It lists every published product in our catalogue, grouped into aluminum extrusion profiles and CNC machined parts, with the material, tolerance, minimum order quantity, indicative price and lead time for each item. Each entry links to the full specification sheet for that part, and each group links to the matching category archive.
Is there a minimum order quantity?+
It depends on the item, and the figure is stated on every product page. Standard T-slot profiles can be supplied cut to size in small quantities, with a typical minimum around 100 m for a stock section. CNC machined parts normally start at 50 pieces, because that is where fixturing and programming costs are absorbed. Custom extrusion with a new die needs a larger production run, which we confirm when quoting.
Can I get samples before placing a production order?+
Yes. We supply free sample lengths of stock profiles and, where the part allows it, sample machined components; the customer covers freight. Samples are normally despatched within three to five working days. Sample availability is shown as a field on each product page, so you can check it before you ask.
How long does production take?+
Stock profiles ship 15 to 25 days after deposit. CNC machined parts run 12 to 20 days after drawing confirmation. Custom extrusions that require a new die add the die lead time on top, usually three to four weeks. Every product page carries its own lead time, so the figure you see is the one that applies to that item rather than a generic promise.
Do you cut profiles to length and machine them before shipping?+
Yes. Profiles are cut between 100 mm and 6,000 mm to your cut list, then drilled, tapped, milled or countersunk in the same factory. That means you receive framing kits that assemble without further machining, and it removes the double handling that comes from buying extrusion and machining separately.
What drawings can you work from?+
DWG, DXF, STEP, IGES, X_T and PDF are all accepted. A 3D model plus a 2D drawing carrying tolerances, material and finish gives the fastest and most accurate quote; a PDF alone is workable for simple profiles and plate parts but leaves more room for interpretation, so we will send a marked-up drawing back for confirmation before cutting metal.
Not sure which profile or part fits your design?
Send the drawing or a description of the assembly and we will tell you which standard section works, what the tolerance implication is, and what a production batch would cost. Quotes for standard items normally go out within one working day.
